The Drikung Kagyu Order was founded in 1179 by Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön. It is headed by the two Kyabgon Rinpoches, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chungtsang. While Chungtsang Rinpoche resides in Lhasa, Chetsang Rinpoche has established the Drikung Kagyu seat in exile in Dehra Dun, in the northeast of India.
For the first time ever a Three-Year Retreat according to the Drikung Kagyu Tradition will be held in Europe. The retreat, beginning in the fall of 2014, will be held at the Milarepa Retreat Center in Schneverdingen, Germany.
His Holiness the 37th Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang was honored to receive the Sakyamuni Buddha International Award from the Ashwaghosh Buddhist Foundation, in Nagpur.
On March 3, 2013, the Mini Library for Little Monks opened at Jangchubling Monastery, Dehradun, India. The library contains many books for children to improve their language skills. Among those are books of English and Hindi fairy-tales and stories, as well as picture-books.

25th February 2013 turned out to be a bright, sunny day. The lawn in front of Drikung Jangchubling Monastery at Dehra Dun was decked out with a large steel awning covered with light blue and grey plastic to prevent the rain from entering in the tent.

On the 11th of February, the Tibetan Losar was celebrated at the Jangchubling Monastery. His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived at Jangchubling Monastery at 5.30am and at 6am morning the Losar program began with the auspicious prayers followed by Lama Chopa Puja.

The teaching of the Gongchig ("The Holistic Enlightened View”) by Khenchen Könchog Gyaltshen Rinpoche based on the commentary called "The Lamp of Wisdom Illumination" has now completed its ninth week.
