The Meaning of the Drikung SymbolThis is the general explanation of the outer, inner, secret, and actual meaning of the Drikung Symbol of the HUNG letter's placement inside the Sun disc and Moon Crest. |
OM SVASTI:
To mighty Dorje Chang, Lodro Rinchen, Dano Lhudrup, Saraha, Shawari, Tilpoa, Naropa, Metripa, Marpa, Milarepa, Gampopa, Phagmo Drupa, Kyobgon Jigten Sumgon and the precious Drikung Kagyu Lineage, I prostrate in deep devotion and respect.

a. The sun, moon and their placement symbolize the disciples of Milarepa, the sunlike Gampopa and moonlike Rechungpa. The union of the sun and moon is the Kagyu Dharma which gves blessing to one's mind. | |
| b. When the previous Drikung Chura Namjin Karpa incarnated, the seal with the HUNG letter was his share from all the numerous divine substances. Because of this, even today, it is the most important Dikung Kagyupa seal. For those that understand it's meaning, The HUNG letter serves as a protection. It is said if the seal is kept with you continuously the HUNG Letter can stop the negative influences of enemies, ghosts, demons, thieves and harmful beings. | ||

The HUNG letter standing on the Bodhicitta-Moon is the essence of the glorious Yidam Chakrasamvara. | |

The two together represented the essence in Sambhoghakaya form symbolize the non-duality of Wisdon (Dorje Naljorma) and Skillful Means (Chakrasamvara). | |

| The blue HUNG symbolizes the mind of all the Buddhas of the three times; the skylike blue, which is clear, unhindered, void, beyond thought, undefinable and of the nature of Dharmakaya, symbolizes the 'mind as such.' | ||

| May the form of the HUNG letter, embodied with the five wisdoms, bring one onto the Path of the Developing Mind and the Completion Phase of meditation and thus through the ripening of the five kayas and the five wisdoms may one accomplish the state of Dorje Chang in this lifetime. | |
