Honoured to organise the 800th Commemoration of Lord Jigten Sumong's Maha Parinirvana.
As invited by the Ministery of Culture, Govt. of India at Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, Nalanda (Bihar) for the International Conference on Buddhism in 21st Century, Perspectives and Responses to Global Challenges and Crisis, March 17th -19th 2017, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang visited for the conference on March 16th, 2017. There His Holiness had met up with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, H.H. Karmapa, H.E. Situ Rinpoche, scholars and experts from different religious background around the world. On the First Day, as a speaker for the Nalanda Conference, H.H. the Dalai Lama gave an opening speech and highlighted the importance and the needs of the Buddhas teachings for all in the 21st Century.
During the session H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang also gave a speech reminding the urgent needs of our inner values and practices of all religious traditions, and also the outer environmental preservation and protection of the wild life and nature.
On Day 2, H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon served as a Chair Person in the session Buddhist Holy Sites & Heritage: Preservation & Development at the Nalanda Conference, and also offered an opening and closing remarks.
In his speech H.H. said he was happy to welcome and meet each and every scholars and practitioners from different religious background to participate and have their precious time for discussion, the pursuit of religious peace and harmony, preservation and development of Buddhist Holy Sites & Heritage.
All the participants shared a profound and valuable ideas for preservation and development of Buddhist Holy Sites & Heritage. During the speech H.H. also highlighted that Sharavasti has been neglected for thousands of years, now we all need to help and promote the awareness for the Sharavasti which was one of the favourite place of Lord Buddha, where the Buddha spent his long 25 years of Varshavas ( Rainy Season Retreat), and gave most of the sutras on that same place. In the end H.H. thanked each and every one and offered a dedication for preservation of Buddhist Holy Sites and Heritage.
