 This year (the year 2144 of the Fire Bird according to the Tibetan Lunar calendar), we will be commemorating the 800th anniversary since Lord Jigten Sumgon entered Maha Parinirvana and 2560 years since Lord Buddha’s Maha Parinirvana.


Commemorating this 800th anniversary of Lord Jigten Sumgon’s Parinirvana is of utmost importance to the followers in order to firmly establish inspiration and strengthen faith in following the steps on the path of liberation.

The main commemoration anniversary of Lord Jigten Sumgon’s Body, Speech, Mind, Qualities and Activities will take place at Drikung Kagyu Institute, Jangchubling in Dehra Dun, India from 19th to 25th October 2017.

We welcome all Dharma friends and followers around the world to join this great commemoration.

DSC06744The 800th Centenary Maha Parinirvan of the Lord Jigten Sumgon, the founder of Drikung Kagyu Lineage was commemorated from 19th to the 25th October, 2017 at Jangchubling Monastery, Dehradun, India. There were participants from 82 different countries; totaling 1,600 people and a total of about 10,000 persons attended the event which was joyful and awesome. 

The International Drikung Council Members did a wonderful job in organizing such a huge event after tirelessly working for one year ahead the event.

His Holiness Visits Leh-Ladakh

H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang visits Leh, Ladakh for " Ladakh Organic Farmers Meet Sustainable Agriculture Development".
H.H. was received at Leh, Airport with warm welcome by the organisers on Sep 24, 2017 and was escorted to Phyang Monastery with the traditional welcoming procession.

On Sep 25th, 2017 as invited as chief guest H.H. offered valuable speech and direction to all the people gathered at the PoLo Ground in Leh, Ladakh on how to go for the natural and sustainable farming. There were many different organisers and many farmers who participated and devoted to cultivate natural and organic farming throughout Ladakh and the whole country.


His Holiness Visits Burma 2017

His Holiness and entourage were received with warm welcome at the airport and escorted towards the guests house for rest.

During the conference His Holiness The Drikung Kyabgon Thinley Lhundup gave speech on environmental protection,world peace and harmony incorporating the spiritual beliefs and customs around the world.


H.H. visits Bhutan

H.H. in bhu 5His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and group of followers from Malaysia, Taiwan and Hongkong visited Bhutan on May 21st, 2017 after his Dharma Tour and Environmental Program in South East Asia. H.H. and entourage started hiking from Zhiwaling at 6:15 am and arrived Tiger Nest ( Paro Taktsang) at 10:30. am on May 22. H.H. was also joined by most Ven. Choeze Kuchen Rinpoche, most Ven. Jamyang Mipham Rinpoche, Dasho Tobyey Dorji and family, Mr. Richard Weingarten and Ms. Carol Weingarten, and some other disciples from Taiwan, Hongkong and Malaysia.


H.H. Consecrates Drikung Samtenling, Durban South Africa

Dscf0120After a long search for a suitable location, a beautiful four acre site was found in Durban, South Africa, and after extensive repairs to the buildings on the property a new Drikung Kagyu Tibetan Buddhist Centre was ready to open - the first on the continent of Africa.

Drupon Samten Rinpoche travelled from California to make the final preparations for the arrival of HH the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang on 31 May 2017 who came to offficially open the new Drikung Kagyu Centre given the name Drikung Samtenling. He was warmly received by the Durban Tibetan Buddhist Community who greeted him with music, flowers and white khatags.


H.H. Dharma Tour & Environmental Program,2017,Part II

H.H. Bhumang On May 1, 2017, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived Hochi Min City, Vietnam as a part of his Dhrama Tour and Environment Program, 2017. HH and entourage were received with warm welcome by the Vietnamese followers at the airport and escorted upto the Rex Hotel for the rest.
In Danang, Vietnam on May 6, 2017, at 9 am H.H. was received at the main gate of the temple with the traditional procession of welcoming song and lotus dances, and invited all the way to the teaching shrine.


H.H. Dharma Tour & Environmental Program 2017, Part I

IMG 9937As a part of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang’s Dharma Tour & Environmental Program 2017, H.H. commemorated the 800th Parinirvana Day of the Lord Jigten Sumgon in Jakarta, Indonesia on April 16, 2017.
H.H. gave teaching on loving kindness and compassion, and shared the idea on Go Green and Go Organic. H.H was joined by the Thravada monks from Thailand, Cambodia and Laos for the whole program.
There were also traditional Indonesian performances by the school children. After lunch H.H. Led the Jangchok Puja and Lamp Offering session with the prayer of Samantrabhadra.


Green Festival in Ladakh

On March 25, under the leadership of the Go Green Go Organic organization, environmental organizations in Ladakh hosted the first Green Ladakh Day to answer the call of His Holiness Tinle Lhundup. Participating organizations included Go Green Go Organic, Ladakh Environment and Health Organization (LEHO), Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), Defence Research & Development Organization (DIHAR), and NCF. The celebration took place at the Phyang Monastery. Villages of Phyang shared responsibilities in organizing this event. Phyang Monastery provided lunch for participants.


His Holiness Visits Nalanda University

nalanda13As invited by the Ministery of Culture, Govt. of India at Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, Nalanda (Bihar) for the International Conference on Buddhism in 21st Century, Perspectives and Responses to Global Challenges and Crisis, March 17th -19th 2017, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang visited for the conference on March 16th, 2017. There His Holiness had met up with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, H.H. Karmapa, H.E. Situ Rinpoche, scholars and experts from different religious background around the world. 
On the First Day, as a speaker for the Nalanda Conference, H.H. the Dalai Lama gave an opening speech and highlighted the importance and the needs of the Buddhas teachings for all in the 21st Century.


His Holiness Visited Tsopema, HP

Tsopema2012As invited by Wogmin Thupten Shedrupling Monastery HIs Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived Tsopema, Rewalsar on March 6, 2017. On the way H.H. was received in grand traditional procession by H.E. Ontul Rinpoche and all the members of monastery, representatives from local Tibetan Administration, Religious communities from Bir, devotees from Ladakh, Kinnaur, Garsha and Lahul-Spiti all gathered with flowers and scarfs. There after the Mandala Offering was offered to His Holiness as a reception for kindly coming to Tsopema for blessings. On the 10th Day of Tibetan Calander, H.H. commemorated the 800 Years Maha-Parinirvan Day of the Lord Jigten Sumgon by conducting the grand Guru Yoga Puja and Thousands Offering (Bumtsok) with thousands of devotees around the world.


Ice Dripping Project

IMG 9342-2On March 26, 2017 His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and entourage left Phyang Monastery in the morning at 8:30 for Kukshok where the Ice Dripping Project is being carried out. Kukshok is one of the remote places near Lamayuru where Buddhist and Muslim communities live harmoniously side by side. The Sindhu river flows through the valley and lots of Walnut trees grow there. In the past people had to go there by horse but now there is a direct motorable road. H.H. has been there for five times.

During one of H.H.'s visits there in the past, he was informed by the people about the difficulties of water shortages and they requested him to find a solution for the problem.

H.H. came up with the idea of making Ice Stupas in the region. A survey was made at that site, but due to the lack of financial support the Ice Stupa project was delayed for two years.
