The Drikung Kagyu Order was founded in 1179 by Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön. It is headed by the two Kyabgon Rinpoches, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chungtsang. While Chungtsang Rinpoche resides in Lhasa, Chetsang Rinpoche has established the Drikung Kagyu seat in exile in Dehra Dun, in the northeast of India.
His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon office sends many Tashi Delek and greetings on upon having successfully accomplished the first Shravasti Vipassana program on Feb 20, 2017 in New York, U.S.A. It was organised by the International Drikung Kagyu Association, North America, under the guidance of Retreat Master Konchok Tenzin. This meditation technique looks similar with the Acharya Goenka's Vippassana method, but it was based on a text which was extracted from the "Anapana Sati Sutra" taught by Lord Buddha in Shravasti, which includes Mahamudra, Zogchen, and Zen meditation and practice.

On 14th December 2016, as invited by the Lho Palmegon Center, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon arrived at the International Airport, Taipei.
H.H. was received with warm welcome with flowers and white scarfs in their hands as a auspicious sign. Drupon Sonam Nyima and the members of the Lho Palmegon Center, the Representative of Tibet in Taipei, Tibetan Association, and many resident Rinpoche, lamas and devotees from the Drikung Kagyu Centers in Taiwan were present. Thereafter H.H. went for rest at the Grand Hotel, Taipei.
On 17th Dec, in the morning H.H. offered the transmission of Drikung Phowa Chenmo and after lunch granted the Long Life Empowerment of Ma-Chik Drupi Gyalmo tradition. The teachings and foods were offered for free to all devotees.
His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived Rinchenling Monastery, Kathmandu on December 8, 2016. His Holiness was received by H.E. Thritsab Rinpoche, Most Ven. Nubpa Rinpoche, Most Ven. Khenchen Konchok Gyaltsen Rinpoche, most Ven. Drupon Sonam Jorphel Rinpoche and all the Drikung community from Lapchi, Limi, Sherpas and devotees from other countries. The mandala offering was made for auspicious welcoming, and at the rooftop the special tea and sweet rice were served for all.
As invited by most Ven. Drupon Sonam Jorphel Rinpoche on December 9, His Holiness and entourage visited Drikung Rinchenpalri Monastery, on top of the beautiful mountain valley of Kathmandu facing the Shambhunath Stupa.
The 2nd Permaculture Design Workshop was organized by the Songtsen Library patronised by International Nature Restoration Action Association (INRAA) held at Dehradun, India from 28th Nov to 12th Dec 2016. The INRAA founded by His Holiness in year 2016.
Environmentalists working at the front line in the Himalayan regions were participated in this training.
Design methods, sector analysis, zones observation and mapping are the topics of the second day of the 2nd Permaculture Design Workshop.
During the teaching on sector analysis, participants from Bhutan, Ladakh and other Himalayan regions were asked to draw a map of a place that they know.
Upon the request of All Ladakh Student Union Dehradun (ALSUD), His Holiness gave a talk on the topic of "Collaboration and diversity" at the Songtsen Library, Dehradun on 2nd Dec 2016.
His Holiness said, “Collaboration and diversity is a very broad topic. I want to focus on how collaboration and diversity should be reflected in religion and culture.”
‘Although different religions embrace difference perspectives and worldviews, they share the common intention to benefit all beings because every religion has thousands and thousands of disciples. ‘Our goal is not to unify the perspectives of different religions.
Dear dharma friends, we are very pleased to announce that upon the request of the Drikung Kagyu Teaching Committee, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Konchok Tenzin Kunsang Thrinley Lhundrub is going to bestow the annual Winter Teachings at Jangchubling Monastery in Dehradun, India from 3rd March to 5th March 2017.
This year, His Holiness is going to teach on the Dhammapada and on the last day, the series of teachings include a torma empowerment of the dharma protectress Achi Chokyi Dolma. Following the empowerment, the assembly will make an offering of the three representations of body, speech and mind to His Holiness.
The Great Shravasti Buddhist Cultural Assembly 2016, was launched in the morning, Nov. 20th, 2016 at Shravasti with the blessing of the Day, that the Lord Buddha descended from the Tushita Heaven after completing a teaching to his mother.
At 9:45 am, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Tinle Lhundup arrived at the main gate where he was warmly received by the students of Chenrigzig School from Celmentown and the traditional welcoming procession offered by Aryan Folk dancers and Deklying Lhodrak performers. At 10:15am, the chief guest, His Excellency Sri. Netish Kumar (IAS) DM of Shravasti, arrived and was led to the main stage. His Holiness offered a khada to Sri. Netish Kumar and expressed his appreciation for his presence at the cultural assembly.
As invited by Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji from Pramath Niketan in Reshikesh, India, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Tinle Lhundup and more than 40 monastics from the Jungchubling visited Reshikesh on November 16, 2016. His Holiness and his retinue arrived there around 4pm and were received with warm welcome. They participated in the blessing ceremony of the Ganga Cleansing in the same afternoon. Along with the leaders of Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, and the indigenes religions. His Holiness made water offering for the well-being of the Earth and lamp offering for world peace. He also joined the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance. At the conclusion of the water offering, Saraswatiji, who stood next to His Holiness, shared his joy, “We need to host this ceremony every year.
His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang attended the Third World Mountain Forum, from October 17th to 20th 2016, in Mbale, Uganda under the theme “Mountains for Our Future”. The forum is jointedly hosted by ARCOS and the Uganda government. SDC and other organizations also offered technical support and funding for the forum.
His Holiness represented the forum as the Mountain Partnership Ambassador. The Mountain Partnership is a United Nations voluntary alliance dedicated to improving the lives of mountain peoples and protecting mountain environments around the world. H.H. was formally appointed as a United Nations Mountain Partnership Ambassador by Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN (FAO) on 6th May, 2015.
On Sep. 16, 2016, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived Milarepa Retreat Centre, Germany for the traditional Drikung Monkey Year Teaching which took place in Scheneverdingen, Germany. His Holiness, H.E. Garchen Rinpoche and lamas performed the inauguration ceremony for a stupa of the Centre. The teachings were kindly granted by the most prominent teachers of Drikung Kagyu lineage – His Holiness Drikung Kaybgon Chetsang, His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche and Most Venerable Lho Ontrul Rinpoche. The audience were blessed to receive empowerments and teachings from these great teachers. Western Khenpos and Lamas had made a beautiful Hevajra sand mandala. Its beauty and details amazed everyone. His Holiness started the teaching with the Guru Rinpoche Empowerment according to Pema Lingpa's trandition.
His Holiness and entourages arrived the Moscow airport on, His Holiness was received with warm welcome by the Drikung Sangha and escorted to the Drikung Kagyu center, where H.H. and all had tea and sweet rice organised by the sangha and sponsors. His Holiness shared that it is his second time to visit to Moscow. Then, he told the public about his activities for culture and environmental projects. After the speech, a lunch was served and everyone went for rest.
On , right after the breakfast His Holiness went for a sightseeing tour in Moscow. He visited the biggest Orthodox church in Moscow – the church of Christ the Saviour, which was recently reconstructed. It is now richly decorated with paintings and golden ornaments, and thereafter he visited the Roerich Museum.
